Historic Home & Garden
Maine is filled with amazing homes typically built in the mid 1800's. A recent project is the designer's own home she shares with her partner in Topsham, Maine.

The goal was to keep the integrity of this historic 1803 home. Showcasing the original moldings, fireplaces and honoring the quirky hidden stairwell was key. Using colors that reflect the Maine Coast, the New England light and sensibilities, grounds this home and underscores a time and place.

Choosing a warm color palette throughout created a backdrop for a mix of furnishings reflecting a friendly, relaxed home that is used frequently for entertaining and overnight guests. Formal was a bit too fussy for the actual lifestyle of this couple. Grace, beauty and charm were the buzzwords in the interior design of this home. Integrating pieces from a life lived separately and now together was the biggest challenge. The motto was, if you love it, it can stay! Consequently this home is filled with art, photos and books that reflect the passions and interests of them both. The fabrics, paint color, eclectic furnishings, antique and new, paired with indoor plants and fresh flowers all work together to create an "Artful and Happy Home".

The next project, 1.3 acres of gardens, stay tuned, more to come!
